Athlete Representation
Andresen & Associates believes that undertaking the representation of an athlete entails more than creating a traditional attorney-client relationship. An athlete agent is a lawyer, fiduciary, confidant, friend and counselor to his client. As such, Andresen & Associates only undertakes the representation of athletes in a traditional "agent" role under very limited circumstances so as to ensure that the client is getting everything out of the representation that he or she is entitled to and deserves. More commonly, the Firm works in conjunction with athletes' agents, or represents athletes in their "second career" and non-playing endeavors. To that end, some of the services that Andresen & Associates offers to its athlete clients include:
- Educating clients regarding their various legal matters, rather than simply providing unexplained work product
- Reviewing and negotiating revisions to representation agreements offered to clients by proposed agents and advisors
- Advising, counseling and assisting clients (or a client's agent) in the negotiation and execution of their playing contracts
- Working (often with the client's agent) to negotiate, draft, revise and/or review endorsement, public appearance, sponsorship, and other contracts
- Creating and/or finding opportunities for endorsements, public appearances and other community relations experiences for clients
- Working with clients to create and operate non-profit, tax-exempt (e.g., 501(c)(3)), and/or for-profit entities under which to manage their non-playing business endeavors, and providing a wide array of legal services related thereto (e.g., securing intellectual property, negotiating and drafting agreements, handling litigated matters, etc.)
- Working on behalf of clients to locate and secure competent professionals to provide services that cannot otherwise be provided by the Firm
